This week Americans sit down around their tables to celebrate Thanksgiving. Over the years I’ve learned about so many special ways our families can express thanks this Thursday. Here are a few of my favorites:
The Thanksgiving Day Hamper: I read about this Victorian tradition in Mrs. Sharp’s Traditions: Reviving Victorian Family Celebrations of Comfort & Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach. Victorian families would prepare Thanksgiving food baskets for the needy and deliver them on Thanksgiving Day. This is a tradition worth incorporating into our Catholic homes.
