I just finished Claire’s very pink birthday crown.

Hopefully she’ll still love pink for many years to come. 🙂

This felt crown was made from the pattern available in Amanda Soule’s lovely book The Creative Family.  I embellished the crown with inexpensive trims, ribbons, and appliques.  I made the organdy ribbon trim on the bottom edge of the crown using a “whimsy stick” from Kari Mecca’s tool line.  I just wrapped the ribbon around the stick, sewed up one edge and it was pretty trim – bam!  I first saw these techniques in Kari’s book More Sewing with Whimsy.
